Hi, this is an essay I wrote as an assignment for an English insitute, feel free to critize the essay’s structure and word choice, but not arguments since I am not expert in such a topic.

Every new generation has to deal with a dangerous crisis, traditionals suffered through the great depression, baby boomers faced the vietnam war, millennials are currently facing a global pandemic, and lastly gen z faces extinction.

We all know that global warming is a big issue, few really have an idea on how to deal with it. Many try adopting a lifestyle of recycling, and they give up after an amount of time later.

Due to plastic’s very low cost of manufacturing, it’s variety of uses, it’s lightweight, and lastly durability, it became the most used material in the world.

With that comes a great danger, plastic(unlike other materials) is very unfriendly when it comes to our environment. Other materials such as steel, metal, paper, are very recycle-able and decompose without much hassle.

Therefore our best chance to continue surviving is to stop manufacturing more plastic. That will greatly decrease global warming’s development rate, and will give us a couple of centuries to develop and adopt more efficient solutions.

Besides slowing down global warming, banning manufacturers from using plastic will stop contributing to the ugly landfills and produce an overall better environment.

Lastly, it’ll lead to consumers being more conscious of what they consume daily and it’s long term effect on the planet.

Manufacturers often say that such a drastic action will affect jobs and livelihoods, and while that’s a good argument, we really don’t have much of a choice. We are facing extinction, not only humans but other animals as well, we need to pull the plug on plastics.

In-conclusion, now is not the time to continue researching. Environmental science has been researching plastics for over 30 years, we don’t need more search but action. If we fail to do something about this issue, we will have to face the dire consequences.
